Lagerfeld ha dado vida a “Mythology”, un calendario que es espejo de una de sus pasiones más arraigadas: la pasión por las leyendas y mitos de la mitología grecorromana, por la narración del origen del hombre y del mundo a través de las aventuras de dioses y diosas, héroes y heroínas.
En las 36 fotos que componen el Calendario 2011 están representados 24 personajes, entre divinidades, héroes y mitos. El ojo de Lagerfeld nos propone fotos “esculpidas”, desde el punto de vista del rigor estético y hace continuas referencias al arte de la escultura y a sus cánones clásicos. Todas las fotografías son en blanco y negro, una elección que les confiere carácter, subraya la belleza de los cuerpos gracias al fuerte contraste cromático y les otorga tridimensionalidad a las figuras, a través de un sabio uso de la luz.

The 36 photos that make up the 2011 Calendar show 24 different subjects, including gods, heroes and myths. With his keen eye, Lagerfeld has ’sculpted’ these photos both in terms of their aesthetic rigour and for the recurring references to the art of sculpture and its classical tenets. All of the photos are in black and white, which lends character to the images, exalts the beauty of the figures represented in sharp chromatic contrast, and gives them a certain three-dimensionality through the careful use of light.
